With a 3-1 record, the Chattanooga Mocs football team is off to its best start since the 1997 season. This Saturday, the Mocs look to build on their strong start as they travel to Birmingham, Ala., hoping to snap a six-game Southern Conference road losing streak against the Samford Bulldogs. The Mocs last road win in league action was a 45-38 victory at Georgia Southern in Sept. 2007. This is the first of three consecutive road games for UTC.
The Mocs offense will undoubtedly be in for a stiffer test this week against Samford as the Bulldogs boast the top scoring defense and top total defense in the SoCon. The Bulldogs are holding opponents to an average of 12.6 points while allowing only 214.4 yards per game.
Mocs' sophomore quarterback and Chattanooga native B.J. Coleman said he is excited about the upcoming contest but knows going on the road in conference is always tough.
"We have to get ready for a good Samford football team," Coleman said, following the Mocs' win over Wofford. "Our guys understand that it's going to be a dog fight in the Southern Conference.
