Delaney returns to campus

He's ba-ack.John Delaney has returned to Chattanooga to serve as the new vice chancellor of student development at UTC.

Delaney, originally from Ireland, came to the U.S. to pursue an education.

Delaney obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English at Rice University in Houston, then acquired Master and a Doctor of Education from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Delaney served UTC from 1990 to 1994 as the assistant dean of students. His duties included serving as an advisor to SGA and the University Echo, advising the programming committee and coordinating services for students with disabilities.

Delaney said he has had 20 years of experience working with similar departments and has been directly involved with guidance and hands-on programming.

Now, as vice chancellor of student development, Delaney said he will help devise "services and programs designed to help students [to] connect, [to] get engaged."

Delaney said he is looking forward to meeting students and watching them shape their campus.

"The interest is there, the passion is there," Delaney said, "So we just have to align those.
