  • Mocs shutout regular season

      The Mocs wrestling team finished out its regular season by pitching a 41-0 shutout against VMI Monday night. Nick Soto, a Spring Hill, Fla. freshman, scored the lone pin for the Mocs on the day but was one of ten Mocs to score victories over the Keydets.

  • Lady Mocs take two road losses

      Chattanooga traveled to Atlanta for the Georgia State Panther Invitational Feb. 18 and 19 but dropped two of three games on the weekend. The Lady Mocs topped IUPUI 13-5 in the first game of the tournament before falling 5-1 to Georgia State and 5-4 to Eastern Illinois.

  • Tennis serves home sweep of UNA

      The Chattanooga men's tennis team opened its outdoor season against North Alabama and continued with its best yet since 2006 with a 7-0 sweep Saturday Feb. 18.  Head coach Carlos Garcia said he could not have asked for a start to the outdoor season.

  • Lady Mocs score road win, still in the hunt for first place in SoCon

      The Lady Mocs (19-7) basketball team continued its dominance with a 54-40 road win over Western Carolina Feb. 18. The win over the Catamounts handed the Lady Mocs their fourteenth Southern Conference win, putting Chattanooga just two wins behind the first place Appalachian State.

  • Softball opens year with three-win weekend

      The Chattanooga Lady Mocs softball team opened its 2012 season at the Dot Richardson's National Collegiate Invitational, going 3-2 on the weekend to begin the season over the .500 mark. Chattanooga claimed its first win Feb. 10, the first day of the tournament with a 12-1 final over Bethune-Cookman.

  • Mocs end losing streak with 83-75 victory over Elon

      The UTC men's basketball team returned home to McKenzie Arena to snag their second Southern Conference win in a row against Elon Thursday Feb. 9.  The Mocs had an 83-75 victory over the Phoenix, the then SoCon North Division leader.  Chattanooga improved to 10-16 overall and 4-9 in the Southern Conference.

  • Lady Mocs take two, remain undefeated at home

      Defense and rebounding keyed two home wins for the Lady Mocs as they took down SoCon foes College of Charleston and Georgia Southern over the weekend. Wes Moore's squad held College of Charleston to just 13 of 67 shooting from the field en route to a 57-31 throttling of the Cougars.

  • Mocs fill holes in coaching staff

      The UTC football team announced Tuesday the hiring of former Georgia Bulldogs and NFL running back Thomas Brown as the Mocs new running backs coach and former UT-Martin All-American guard Alex Atkins as the new offensive line coach. Brown joins the Mocs after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for a year at the University of Georgia.

  • Berry sets the pace for Mocs at MTSU

      The Chattanooga track and field team traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to participate in the MTSU Valentine Invitational Sunday, Feb. 12. The big win of the day was Chris Berry's, a senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., first place in the men's 3000-meter run.

  • Wrestling gets pinned with losses

      The UTC wrestling team could not bring home a victory from the National Wrestling Coaches Association Cliff Keen National Duals in Stillwater, Okla., Sunday. Chattanooga fell 38-6 to the No. 10 Wyoming Cowboys in the opening dual that featured just one Mocs victory.

  • Computers compromised in dorm

      Students who used computers in Stophel Apartments may need to reboot their computers to ensure a bogus network configuration is not still on their computer. Jeff Kell, director of networking services, said UTC Network Services discovered a compromised computer in Stophel on Feb.

  • Finance companies worry for future of student loans

      Student loan debt is on the rise and financial service companies are worried about the effects this could have on the economy. The average loan debt for a graduating UTC undergraduate is $21, 812, and the national average cumulative loan debt is $24, 615, Julae Grosz, associate director of the office of student financial aid, said.

  • Aquatics staff plans new events

    The ARC's staff is looking to revitalize Aquatic Center attendance through new programs and small additions to the facility. Anna Forkum, coordinator of aquatic programming, said she is excited about the future of the facility.  "It's been great so far," Forkum said.
