080432 - At 12:33 a.m. a member of housing security observed a white male carrying a beer walk into an apartment in Johnson Village. The security officer called police for assistance, at which time a party could be heard underway.

After several attempts of knocking on the apartment door to check on the well-being of the tenants, a strong marijuana odor could be detected. Police entered the apartment to find four people hiding in a back bedroom.

The only legal tenant of the apartment came out of the room and told police they had been drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and being too loud. Another person was caught stuffing a bag of marijuana in the seam of a chair. The third student present was a visitor and was not under the influence of any illegal substances, and a non-student was also found in the apartment. During the initial security clearance of the apartment, a large potato gun was found in the room of a tenant who was not present. UTC police seized the illegal device for violating campus weapons codes. The legal tenant was advised of student affairs procedures, and the student caught stuffing marijuana in the chair was taken into custody at the Hamilton County Jail for possession of marijuana and underage drinking. The other two people present were released at the scene.

080443 - At 8:21 p.m. police responded to a miscellaneous call at 815 University St. Upon arrival police spotted a white man with a rope tied around his waist. Police asked the gentleman what he was doing, and he told police that he was checking the strength of the rope. The rope was hanging from a third floor window of 2000 UTC Place. The people who were looking out of the window saw police and said, "Cut the rope! The police are here!"

The officer advised the people in the room to stay there, and that he was coming up to speak with them. Housing security stood by the room to make sure no one inside the room left. Police escorted the man with the rope tied around him to the room. Police advised the parties in the room to not try to climb down the side of the building. Police made a report of the incident then returned to service.
