The men's and women's tennis teams saw mixed success this weekend as both squads hosted regional foes.

Both teams first faced North Alabama Saturday and each came out the winner, though the men's team had an easier time at it.

Anchored by the play of Badr Bouabdellah, Razvan Axente and Peter Sauska, the men's team swept the Lions of North Alabama 7-0. The Lions were hampered by only having five players ready for the competition, giving up a forfeit in the third doubles match as well as at the No. 6 spot. The Mocs hardly need the help, however, not giving up a single point in the match.

Sauska, a Budapest, Hungary, junior, extended his personal winning streak to seven as he downed Zac Berenicki at the No. 3 spot.

The women's team had less success against the Div. II school. Although the Lady Mocs won, they barely came away with a 4-3 win.

Chattanooga came out into the match swinging, winning all three doubles matches to gain the advantage early on, but that lead did not help the first three spots on the team.

Lindsay Ballard, who hadn't lost a match all year, Beata Knizat and Bonnie Adams all lost their matches at the first three spots, putting the match at 3-1 in favor of North Alabama.

Thankfully, the bottom three seeds came to the rescue of the team, winning the rest of the matches to score the win for the Lady Mocs. The women's team then faced UAB the following Sunday and lost 6-1.

Ballard, at the No. 1 spot, scored the only point for the Lady Mocs who now sit at 4-3. They will visit Davidson this weekend for their first SoCon game.
