The strategic plan is currently being implemented into university policy after being completed Nov. 17, officials said.

According to Faculty Senate President Gavin Townsend, "Once a decade UTC is reviewed by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

"As part of our efforts to be reaccredited, our SACS report includes a strategic plan of sorts, usually a list of priorities to pursue over a five year period," Townsend said.

According to the UTC Web site, "The UTC strategic plan emphasizes specific directions and opportunities that are critical to our future success and will help make UTC 'distinctive.'"

The plan's goal is to serve as a guide in our pursuit of excellence for the next five years.

The plan is not designed to be all things to all people, but to act as a guide to prioritize actions of highest strategic importance to the university, according to the Web site.

The next step toward the implementation of UTC's future will begin with the identification of fiscal and other resource allocations to support identified campus programs and institutional priorities through the introduction of the new University Planning Resources and Advisory Council, Townsend said.

UPRAC is comprised of representatives from virtually every branch of the UTC community including students, alumni, UC Foundation representatives and trustees, Townsend said.

The purpose of UPRAC is to review all available university resources, with an eye towards addressing as many of the recommendations in the strategic plan as possible, Townsend said.

According to Townsend, the goals of the UPRAC will be to transform the university's budgeting, allocations, accountability and assessment processes.

According to Townsend, the last week of February will contain UPRAC reviewing the various budget proposals put forth by all divisions of the university.

Upon completion of the review, UPRAC will suggest budget priorities, which best follow accordance with UTC's Strategic Plan, according to Townsend.
