The Eagles (11-9, 7-2) opened up with an early run on the Lady Mocs (18-3, 10-0) before Chattanooga unleashed its offense, never allowing the Eagles to get within four points. The Lady Mocs led 24-19 going into the break.
UTC increased the advantage 29-21 at start of the second half, before the Eagles responded with back-to-back lay-ups.
The Lady Mocs and Eagles then alternated runs for the remainder of the game, but it was Chattanooga's 18-7 run that decided the game. The Lady Mocs won 64-50 in the e against the Eagles.
Two days before, UTC beat College of Charleston 73-63 for their 12th straight win.
Senior Alex Anderson, Stone Mountain, Ga., had a game high 21 points and 13 rebounds, for her sixth double-double of the season. Anderson also becomes only the fifth player in school history to score more than 1500 points for a career. She currently has 1,517 points for her career.
Sophomore forward, Shanara Hollinquest, Sylacauga, Ala., also had a double-double with 18 points and a career high 16 points.
The Cougars, who led most of the first half, were led by junior forward Nikki Williams with a team high 14 points and junior guard Jill Furstenburg who put in 13 points and 6 rebounds.
In the second half, the Cougars found themselves in an uphill battle. They came within three points twice in the second half before the Mocs took over the game.
UTC used an 11-2 run late in the second half to push their lead to 14 points, increasing their advantage 68-54. After a late rally by the Cougars, the Mocs were able to hold on for the 10-point victory.
The Lady Mocs are currently tied with Illinois State for the longest active winning streaks, trailing behind UConn who has 19 straight wins. The longest winning streak in school history is 27 games.
The Lady Mocs look to maintain their winning streak as they go face-to-face with Appalachian State in the first game of a double-header Saturday, Feb. 2. The game is set for 5 p.m. at McKenzie Arena.
