The undefeated New England Patriots face the underdog New York Giants for the 42nd Super Bowl matchup Sunday, Feb. 3.

The New England Patriots and New York Giants come from the two of the biggest markets in the country, New York and Boston, which have been geographical rivals in such matchups as Yankees-Red Sox or Celtics-Knicks.

The New York Giants' NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers alone had 48 million viewers, the biggest non-Super Bowl audience for a game in ten years.

Ryan Seacrest directs the first-ever Super Bowl red carpet, giving viewers a view of the glammed-up celebrities. Paula Abdul will give a performance, as well as American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, who will sing the national anthem.

This is, in fact, the second meeting of these two teams this season. In a regular season finale, the Patriots eked out a win against the Giants in the Meadowlands 38-35.

If Tom Brady leads the Patriots to beat Eli Manning and the Giants, they will have completed the greatest season in NFL history with a record 19-0.
