UTC offers several forms of assistance for students needing help with their personal and academic lives, according to John Delaney, vice chancellor of student development.
Delaney said the university offers such assistance because at some point all students need help dealing with academic and social issues.
All students have access to free services such as tutoring and counseling at the student success center.
Student support services offers peer mentoring, cultural education and disability services.
All student programs are located on the university's Web site under administration and outreach as well as student resources, Delaney said.
According to Delaney, the university strives to make the groups supportive by "both definition and by practice."
According to Mary Robinson Rowland, director of the student success center, the university offers forums and informational meetings that are designed to help students be successful in their college career.
Students are able to take aptitude tests and to talk to counselors to help them decide what they want to accomplish in life and how the university can help them achieve these goals.
The success center provides pamphlets about study skills and other topics in the center's offices in the UC.
