The Lady Mocs hosted the Panera Bread Challenge Nov. 23-24, finishing second after losing to Louisville in the championship round, 80-53.

The Lady Mocs (4-2) kept the contest competitive much of the game, leading 46-45 with 14 minutes left in the second half, but the Cardinals went on monstrous 30-2 run to put the game away.

Brooke Hand, a senior guard from Moulton, Ala., was the top scorer for Chattanooga, scoring 18 points, taking all her 15 shots from beyond the arc and hitting six of them. She also finished with four rebounds.

Another strong performance for the Lady Mocs came from senior forward Alex Anderson of Stone Mountain, Ga., who shot 5-10 from the field with 11 points and a game-high 7 rebounds and four steals.

Anderson and Hand were named to the All-Tournament team thanks to their strong performances in both rounds.
The matchup saw UTC launch 38 three-pointers, compared to Louisville's ten, while they only made 13, a 34.2 percent average.

The Lady Mocs could not keep up with Louisville's Angel McCoughtry, who totaled 26 points, 10 steals and six rebounds, shooting 10-15 against Chattanooga. She was eventually named tournament MVP.

The Lady Mocs arrived at the championship after a 68-58 win over Murray State in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Chattanooga built up double-digit leads in both the first and second halves, but both times the Racers fought back, trailing by only five with 6:40 left in the game.

The Lady Mocs ensured their victory with an ensuing 12-2 run that put the game out of reach.

Anderson led the team in scoring with 24 points, bringing down eight rebounds and blocking three shots. She went 8-15 on field goals while shooting 8-9 on free throws.

Sophomore Jenaya Wade-Fray, a guard from Madison, Ala., contributed on the board with eleven rebounds but missed out on a double-double with only nine points.

Hand had a particularly poor shooting night, going 2-13 from the field with only one out of her 11 three-pointers going in.
Chattanooga came into the tournament coming off of a close win against regional rival East Tennessee State of the OVC, 70-69.

The Bucs played a strong second half against the Lady Mocs as neither team pulled away further than three points in the final ten minutes.

However, some key shots down the stretch came from Shanara Hollinquest, Sylacauga, Ala. sophomore, as she sank two free throws to seal the win.

Hollinquest came off the bench to lead UTC with 17 points on 7-10 shooting.

The Lady Mocs hosted MTSU Nov. 28 and will travel to Alabama A&M Dec. 1.
