On a campus with a varsity women's soccer team and no men's team, some students have decided to form their own team so that they can continue to play their favorite sport.

UTC's men's club soccer team took home some big wins this season. The men's team just finished their season at about .500 with notable wins over Samford, taking the game 4-0, and the Chattanooga Football Club (CFC).

"We usually have a yearly regional tournament," said Ryan Ball, a Chattanooga senior, who serves as both the coach and captain of the team.

"This year was especially hectic with midterms and such," Ball said. "Unfortunately, not enough players were available. But we had a fun season."

The team travels all over the Southeast, playing teams such as Vanderbilt, Georgia, Mississippi and Mississippi State.
During the season, the team gets together three days a week. Tuesday and Thursday the team holds practice on Chamberlain Field, while Wednesday nights they condition starting at 8 p.m.
Ball said the team has been around for 15 to 20 years now.

"A bunch of guys who played soccer in high school just started kicking a ball around the band field and it just went from there."

According to Ball, the team is looking forward to more big wins next season and hope to have their usual regional tournament.

Anyone interested in trying out for the men's club soccer team can contact Ryan Ball at UTCsoccer@hotmail.com. The try-out fee is $5.00.
