Earlier this month, UTC student Kyle Tallman learned that MMMBop never died.

The senior marketing major from Chattanooga opened for the pop trio Hanson before a sold out audience. The concert was held at the Knoxville Bijou Theater.

After playing small gigs on summer concert circuits and local Chattanooga clubs, Tallman finally got a callback to open for Hanson.

"It was a lot of back and forth, but it finally happened," Tallman said.

Tallman, who recently released his debut EP, "Courage," is holding together a tight schedule. While managing 18 hours of school, plus practicing with his band, Tallman put out his five track EP, which he has been selling at shows.

The album, which the soloist describes as, "indie-power pop," is "a lot about relationships." Tallman's girlfriend, Rachel Seivers, a senior from Knoxville, said they sold 40 copies of the disc at the Hanson show and are still getting requests on Tallman's Web site.

According to Todd Gardner, a Chattanooga senior and friend of Tallman, "It's easy listening, good music. He's very creative and professional."

After opening for Hanson, Tallman received an overwhelming show of support from the audience.

"People were asking for their autographs and for photos," Seivers said. "I don't think it could have gone any better."

At the moment, Tallman is not committed to any management but it is open to things taking off once he graduates.
Seivers said, "If the right opportunity came up, he wouldn't be against it."

In the mean time, Tallman is working on his first full-length album, also titled "Courage."

He hopes to release it this winter.
