Nancy Noblit, assistant vice chancellor for development, died from a brain-stem hemorrhage on Oct. 23. She was 45.
Noblit was very devoted to her job and to UTC, said Chuck Cantrell, assistant vice chancellor for university relations.
"She loved UTC [and] her family," he said. "… The family asked people to wear blue and gold to the funeral because she loved UTC so much."
Cantrell, who went to high school with Noblit, said her death was totally unexpected and has shocked many administrators.
"She was totally dedicated to her family and to this campus, and she will be sorely missed," Cantrell said.
A scholarship fund has been established in Noblit's memory. Donations can be sent to the UC Foundation, c/o Nancy Noblit Scholarship Fund, Dept. 6806, 615 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
