Men's cross country runs away with Front Runner Invitational

The Mocs finished first and the Lady Mocs finished second at the Front Runner Invitational at the Moccasin Bend race course this past Saturday.
The men raced to beat Samford, Georgia Tech and Western Kentucky.
The women finished second to Georgia Tech, with four runners placing in the top 10.
The men's team was lead by junior Tim Clark, an Indianapolis, Ind., native, who placed third overall in the 5K course with a time of 15:24.
Only seven seconds behind was Jeff Taylor a junior from Cleveland, Tenn., who finished fourth, followed by junior Michael Metz with a time of 15:37.
Finishing 14th with a time of 15:56 was redshirt freshman Jordan Longstreth, and the last top-five runner for UTC was Murfreesboro, Tenn., native Kevin Huwe coming in at 15:58 for a place of 16th.
Freshman Andy Highlander of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., finished 30th with a time of 16:57.
Lanni Marchant took her third title at this two-mile course with a time of 10:49, an improvement of 14 seconds from her previous time.
Led by the senior from London, Ontario, the Lady Mocs were able to beat Samford, Middle Tennessee, and Georgia Southern.
Sixth for the Lady Mocs was junior Nettie Halcomb of Kelso, Tenn., with a time of 11:17 and sophomore Sabrina Lefort finished seventh with a time of 11:30.
Sophomore Katie Williams of Elizabethton, Tenn., raced to a 10th place finish at 10:37, while freshman Shelley Taylor had a 17th place finish with a time of 12:06.
Freshman Emmy Stuart was 23rd with a time of 12:33 for Chattanooga.
Former Mocs runner Colin Sullivan ran unattached and finished first in the men's race with a time of 14:53.
The next two weeks will be a break for the UTC teams as they prepare for the Southern Conference Championships held at Moccasin Bend race course on Oct. 28.
