Dear editor:
Two weeks ago at the Homecoming game, many awards were given, including a spirit award. The recipients of the spirit award left after halftime. It seems rude to receive a reward for school spirit when one doesn't have the common courtesy to stay for the whole game. The stands were full before halftime and nearly empty afterward. I understand that we were losing, and it may be we had no chance. However, school spirit should mean, "I support UTC all the time," not, " I'm only staying until I have my award."
I'm writing because this blatant disregard for respect is not only insulting to our players, but it also reflects poorly on our university. Our players are doing their best. Maybe full stands for an entire game would help them play even better.
