Jayne Holder has been named the new alumni affairs director at UTC.
Holder said her new position will consist of promoting alumni involvement as well as providing a connection between the alumni and students, among other important duties.
"Alumni are the backbone of the university. They are our proof of excellence and our marketers," said Holder.
According to Adrienne Teague, a Chattanooga senior and president of the Student Alumni Council, Holder is an extremely active alumna of the university, and has a love for UTC.
Teague said: "She is wonderful. We are so thrilled and we couldn't have picked a better person."
Holder previously served as director of major gifts and planned giving in the development office. That position facilitated all alumni outreach programs and efforts to get alumni involved in campus.
According to former alumni affairs director Terry Denniston, Holder is highly qualified for the job.
"It was a tough applicant," she added.
Holder also said that her mission is to continue excellence in alumni programming.
She said the alumni board of directors has recently completed a five-year program aimed at improving alumni involvement.
Holder also said having Chancellor Brown at UTC is a wonderful opportunity for her, because he greatly appreciates alumni.
"I love UTC. I feel [UTC] is Chattanooga's greatest asset. I feel the alumni office is a great way to start," added Holder.
