Aujia Wood, a current UTC student, is planning on opening an Avon store on Brainerd Road in the fall of 2006.

Wood is a UTC student who is double majoring in business and human resources.

Currently, she works for Avon as an independent sales representative. She sells out of her home now, but will be selling from the store when it opens.

Avon is a cosmetics company whose products range from fragrances to makeup to bath and body products.

Some of their top 10 products include Glimmersticks eyeliner and Speedry nail enamel.

Avon was founded in 1886 and is the largest direct seller of beauty products.

The Web site says, "Our vision is to be the company that best understands and satisfies the product, service and self-fulfillment needs of women globally. Our dedication to supporting women touches not only beauty, but health, fitness, self-empowerment and financial independence."

The Web site offers plenty of gift ideas for women, men, children and the home.

Wood is seeking to hire college-aged students as independent sales representatives.

She said that students can work out of their dorm or apartment, and then work in the store when once it opens.

If you are a student who goes home over summer break, you are still able to keep your job.

The company will simply change your shipping address. As a representative for Avon, you earn an hourly rate and 50 percent commission of all sales.

In addition to offering a big selection for women's products, Avon also offers a line for men.

Matthew Crigger, a junior from Nashville, said, "It is nice to finally get a men's line, and I like Avon."

Avon is also against animal testing and does not use it for any of their products.

Kiley Gray, a senior from Knoxville, said that she always checks a companie's opinion on animal testing before investing in a new tube of mascara.
