Fraternity spring recruitment took place last week on campus, and most fraternities said they were pleased with the outcome.
According to most fraternities, spring recruitment is a little different from fall recruitment and more laid back, but some aspects of the process will always stay the same.
Chris Price, a Chattanooga senior and member of Sigma Chi fraternity, said there are fewer guys that go through the recruitment process during the spring.
"There is a lot less hype around spring recruitment," Price said. "More people are concentrated on school and not on going out and partying like they do in the fall."
Justin Norcia, a Chattanooga junior and member of Tai Kappa Epsilon, feels spring recruitment is very similar to fall recruitment.
"We have room rotation so the new guys can meet with all of the fraternities," Norcia said. "The next few days the guys will have a chance to visit any of the fraternities' recruitment events they choose. The only main difference is less people, but that is actually a pretty big difference. And we also do everything from bowling to free food.
"There are only a few rules to abide by," Norcia said. "But everyone is good about following them for the most part."
Some fraternities, however, follow a completely different process than others.
Reginald Smith, a Memphis sophomore, said their process of getting new members is nothing like spring recruitment.
"We choose when we will meet to get new members," Smith said. Smith said they have informationals, in the fall or spring, usually once a year, as their way of getting new members. He said it is different from other fraternities
Many of the fraternities enjoy fall recruitment more in general because it is made out to be a bigger deal than the spring.
Norcia said: "Fall recruitment is always more exciting, mainly because of all of the new faces. We keep it pretty simple in the spring."
Most of the fraternities also feel they met most of their goals during spring recruitment.
