Tuesday's SGA meeting addressed updates on the campus green fee, upcoming campus events and general spending procedures.

According to Adam Reynolds, a Chattanooga graduate student, following the introduction of the green fee to UTC in the fall semester, a committee was formed to designate spending procedures for the money accumulated.

Twenty-five thousand dollars went to lighting occupancy filters for classrooms. Thirty-five thousand dollars was put toward a recycling contract. Eleven thousand dollars was allocated to the employment of a graduate student. Five hundred dollars went to miscellaneous items, such as printing costs. Eighteen thousand dollars purchased green power from TVA. Five thousand dollars was allocated to storm and sewage management run-off. Fifty thousand dollars purchased recycling bags and bins, and all remaining money will rollover into the next term.

Reynolds invited SGA to participate as student representatives for the committee as it progresses into the fall semester.

According to Reynolds, this school year has given the green committee time to establish its bearings.

This summer Reynolds will continue to work with the committee in order to create a widespread campus-recycling program by next fall.

Reynolds reported that UTC has been named a "Green Leader" by TVA, a title only designated to private citizens, and institutions which leave an impact on the community with their purchase of green energy.

Reynolds' report was followed by a rundown of upcoming events.

The Outstanding Seniors Ceremony will be held at Patten Chapel at 4 p.m.

Spring Fest is scheduled for Thursday on Cardiac Hill at Student Park. Funnel cakes, wax hands and a caricature artist will all be on site to celebrate the spring.

Sunday's club baseball game at Engel Stadium was a success, with UTC beating the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, twice, in a double header, senators said.

The Blue and Gold Game is still scheduled to take place April 18 at 4 p.m. on Chamberlain Field. According to Krystyn Cochran, a senator and a Franklin, Tenn. senior, the event will begin at 2 p.m. with hotdogs, chips, drinks, cookies and cotton candy. This may be the last game to be played on Chamberlain Field and all students are invited to attend.

Andrew Clark, freshman senate president from Manchester, Tenn., outlined the event schedule for Freshman Senate Week.

This Saturday, the organization will work with Habitat For Humanity on the construction of a new home.

Tuesday, the freshman senate is sponsoring a blood drive.

With no old business, the organization moved into a new slate. Items one, two and three regarded the absences of organization members.

Item five was a request for $200 to be allocated to help fund the National Honors Program Conference in Colorado.

UTC's honors program is one of the top three programs in the nation, Scott Stuart, a Maryville, Tenn., junior said.

Item six was a request from Phi Mu Alpha to fund a retreat to Evansville, Ind. The item was passed.
